Healthcare Listening Session

Register here! https://t.ly/wh0mU

We are co-hosting a listening session with our local CCO, Advanced Health, regarding health care experiences of our 2SLGBTQ+ community. The purpose of this listening session is to listen to your experiences of accessing healthcare and hopefully identify solutions to improve access. We want to hear about positive experiences as well as challenging ones with the ultimate goal of informing the organization of ways to ensure clients are assigned to informed and affirming providers.

Pride is already partnering with some local health care agencies to provide trainings, but this is another opportunity to give direct input to “the powers that be” to highlight strengths as well as areas for growth.

Participants will receive a gift card for their participation.

Native American Heritage Month

to Nov 4

Native American Heritage Month

As we enter November, it is important to acknowledge this significant but somber historical event. On November 1, 1879, the first Indian boarding school in the United States, the Carlisle Indian School, was established. https://carlisleindianschoolproject.com/

"The truth about the US Indian boarding school policy has largely been written out of the history books. There were more than 350 government-funded, and often church-run, Indian Boarding schools across the US in the 19th and 20th centuries. Indian children were forcibly abducted by government agents, sent to schools hundreds of miles away, and beaten, starved, or otherwise abused when they spoke their native languages." source https://boardingschoolhealing.org/.../us-indian-boarding.../

To deepen our collective understanding and awareness of boarding schools, I encourage everyone to explore a comprehensive list of Indian Boarding Schools (https://boardingschoolhealing.org/list/) in the US, available through the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition (https://boardingschoolhealing.org/) . This website not only offers educational information (https://boardingschoolhealing.org/.../NABS-Newsletter...) and history but also valuable resources and curriculum.
