Position: Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (JEDIA) Coordinator 

Reports to: South Coast Equity Coalition Director

Position Summary Under the backbone of United Way of Southwestern Oregon, the South Coast Equity Coalition (“SCEC”) is a BIPOC & Queer-led coalition building on inherent community strengths to increase health equity for communities of color and those living at the intersection of race/ethnicity and other marginalized identities.

 

The Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (JEDIA) Coordinator’s work is seeded in supporting and intentionally engaging SCEC priority populations. This position will collect and analyze data from ongoing needs assessments to inform and implement SCEC outreach efforts, programs, trainings and community gatherings that advance health equity. Bilingual (English/Spanish) individuals are encouraged to apply. 

 

Please note that this position is currently grant funded. The person hired for this position will assist with identifying and submitting grant applications as part of their role.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ongoing JEDIA training and learning opportunities will be provided for this position. In partnership with the SCEC Director:

 

•        Design outreach materials that highlight JEDIA strategies; distribute printed and virtual outreach materials across Coos and Curry Counties.

•        Organize and attend outreach events. 

•        Prioritize language access by ensuring all written SCEC messaging is translated and language accessibility accommodations are provided during community events. 

•        Create a monthly community newsletter that highlights opportunities relevant to our priority populations. 

•        Create and manage content for social media platforms and websites using Canva or other virtual design software. 

•        Coordinate, attend, and support SCEC monthly business meetings, community meetings and affirming spaces (note taking, food orders, tech support and setup, meeting reminders).

•        Support volunteer recruitment and development across SCEC programs. 

•        Attend and identify training opportunities related to JEDIA work. 

•        Track data to inform program progress and support grant reports.

•        Contribute to JEDIA learning initiatives and knowledge related to systemic racism and structural inequity by identifying training opportunities in virtual and in-person settings; attending trainings and reporting back to the SCEC team; and organizing training opportunities for SCEC members and/or priority populations.

•        Use ongoing data collection methods to inform projects, legislative endorsements, deliverables, and events related to SCEC justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility goals.

Working Environment 

•        32 - 40 hrs/week requiring occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight stays.

•        Position is considered remote with opportunities for office-sharing at the South Coast Equity Coalition as needed. 

•        This job includes remote and in-person work with partners across Coos County and Curry County. Regular cross-county travel is required.

•        Physical demands include sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, lifting approximately 25 pounds, and regular use of the telephone, copier, and computer. Reasonable accommodation will be made to support performing essential functions.

 

Compensation and Benefits 

•        Hourlynon-exempt position $26.00/hour, with an incremental salary adjustment upon successful 90-day performance review, and upon successful annual reviews thereafter.

•        Employee-only health, vision, dental insurance benefits for employees working a minimum of 20 hours/week.

•        Phone and/or internet stipends in accordance with United Way of Southwestern Oregon policies; mileage reimbursement in accordance with IRS standard mileage rate.

•        Vacation accrual starting at 2 weeks/year, sick leave, and all other leave options available under Oregon law.
